JEE Main 2019 exam pattern you must know to become an IITIAN

 National Testing Agency (NAT) has announced JEE Main 2019 exam pattern and we’ve listed out the same in detailed manner. 2019 is a big year to fulfill your ambition of becoming an IITian. From this year, JEE Main will be conducted twice a year. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make the best use of it and grab an engineering seat in India’s top engineering colleges. Let’s now dive deep into the details,


JEE (Main)-2019 will be conducted in the following mode:

  • Paper-1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
  • Paper-2 (B. Arch/ B. Planning): Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test –Part III in “Pen & Paper Based” (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet.


The examination comprises two papers, i.e. paper 1 (for B.E/B. Tech) and paper 2 (for B. Arch/B. Planning). The detailed JEE Main exam pattern for both papers is mentioned below:

  • The examination will be organized in online (computer based) mode.
  • The drawing test for Paper 2 will be conducted through offline mode.
  • Type of Questions (Paper 1 – B.E. /B. Tech): The question paper will comprise of objective type questions.
  • Type of Questions (Paper 2 – B. Arch/B. Planning): Mathematics and aptitude section will be of objective type questions and drawing test will be offline test.
  • Duration: The total exam duration will be three hours. Paper 1 will be conducted in two sittings, i.e. 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Paper 2 will be held in one shift only.
  • Medium: The question paper will be asked in English, Hindi & Gujarati languages.
  • Marking Scheme: Four marks will be provided for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: One mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
